What's Inside
This kit includes core materials that are individually packaged and labeled within your Guidepost box.
With purchase, receive valuable setup and usage tips that bridge the gap between unboxing and integrating this material into your child’s self-directed schoolwork.
Golden Bead Set
The Golden Bead Set is used for a hands-on introduction to the four arithmetic operations and, later, for divisibility and squaring work. This material is a cornerstone of the Montessori math program.
Decanomial Bead Bars
The Decanomial Bead Bars is a versatile material used for working on a range of math concepts from whole number operations, properties of addition and multiplication, arithmetic relationships such as multiples and squaring, concepts of equality and, later, polynomial expansions.
Grammar Stencils
The Grammar Stencils are a child’s gateway to studying the words that make up our language and the roles that they play. This material is a 2-in-1 powerhouse for independent exploration of parts of speech and sentence analysis.
Geometric Box of Sticks & Working Board
The Geometric Box of Sticks and Working Board introduces the child to the building blocks of geometry. Students use this material to construct, label, and define different types of lines, angles, and plane geometric shapes. In doing so, children internalize these concepts and develop the ability to mentally manipulate area and shape.
Stamp Game
The Stamp Game brings the foundation that is laid with the Golden Beads to the next level of abstraction. Students use the Stamp Game to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with multi-digit numbers. It is the ideal transition material for bringing students to a first level of fluency in arithmetic and for igniting an interest in memorizing math facts.
The Checkerboard
The Checkerboard gives the child hands-on practice with multiplication using numbers into the millions. It is a core lower elementary math material utilized across more than a dozen lessons and for applying a variety of fundamental math concepts.
Labeled Fraction Circles 1-10ths
Instead of simply using drawings representing fractional parts, students are able to feel (as well as see) fractions like 1/10, 2/5, and 3/4 and can use these inviting materials to discover for themselves concepts such as equivalent fractions, addition, and subtraction.
Sentence Analysis Movable Pieces
The Sentence Analysis material contains everything your child needs for analyzing a sentence into its logical parts. With this versatile set, they can start with the simplest of sentences like,“Toby ran,” to discover who the subject is and what they did. Next, your child can analyze sentences of mid-level complexity that include modifiers, direct and indirect objects, as well as appositives, such as, “The driver, Cameron, brought us a special package.” More advanced analysis includes a variety of prepositional phrases and the meaning they bring to sentences.
